Welcome to the home of the permanent art installation in Wolverhampton, which will be a tribute to cultural icons and local heroes SLADE.

All you need to know
The Installation
How big will it be?
The monument itself will stand:
3m (10ft) high
2.5m (8ft 6”) wide
1.5m (5’) deep
Finish
The 10mm plate with be galvanized and painted.
Lifespan
The project will be good for the next 85 years!
Why so big?
We feel that it should be impressively large to reflect the scale of the bands standing then and now. At their peak they were the biggest band in the world, we feel that this monument will reflect that.

Other tributes
The monument will bear the names of other important people who were a part of Slade’s history, such as Chas Chandler, Graham ‘Swinn’ Swinnerton and more.
Where will the monument be located?
This is still under discussion with the planners, conservation officers and other stakeholders within the council. As soon as we know, you'll know!
When will the monument be ready?
Initial projection is September 2027 subject to successful fundraising, but we will keep you posted as the project develops.
The Artist
Luke Perry
Luke is an award-winning artist and Director of Industrial Heritage Stronghold, a not-for-profit organisation that specialises in, but is not limited to, heritage monuments in the Black Country.
Some of his recent works can be seen locally outside of Molineux Stadium (the Honved tribute), the green space near to Carvers in Wolverhampton (the Windrush monument), and the tribute to the Sikh soldier in Wednesfield.

The Cost
Total Cost
The overall cost of the project will be £31,000.
Corporate Funding
We will be canvassing local companies to part fund the project, but there is no guarantee on this being successful.
Public Funding
We will be raising money via a Crowdfunder, auctions, public subscription, special events, begging, busking, anything that raises money! Please, spare what you can afford, every penny will be appreciated
Local Government
No funding towards the actual monument will be available from local government, however there will be funds available to assist with the installation, the total cost of which in itself will be over £7,000.
